BIO

Isha Bøhling is an emerging British-Danish artist based in London. She works with painting, drawing, object video and sound, using her voice, songwriting and music, realised though sculpture and performance. Her practice is an excavation process, composing with paint,  drawing with her voice,  sculpting instruments and performing through object and light installations.

She uses drawing as an ongoing investigation into meaning behind pattern and non-linear time. Be it from drawing with geometry in her paintings, making sound work from found sounds, performing songs, or sculpting with light and colour. Her works are about the resonances around us, such as patterns in colour and light. She brings together environmental sounds places and spaces reviving the overlooked or past histories in order to discuss wider issues in the present. Her intuitive process uses the transient nature of wax on paintings to the immaterial: light and sound and site specific installation and performance. It exposes a certain fragility in testament to our temporality that echoes throughout her paintings and installations.

Isha Bohling has exhibited internationally as well as writing, lecturing and curating a number of shows in London, New York and Minneapolis. USA. She completed an MA Fine art at Central St Martins and lives and works in London.

Isha Bøhling was a receipient of The Freelands Foundation award in 2020.  Isha Bøhling’s painting ‘Silence’ is featured in Beethoven Moves Kunsthistorische Museum, Vienna, 2020. An exhibition catalogue accompanying a major exhibition of modern and contemporary art to mark the 250 year Centenary of Ludvig Van Beethoven at the Vienna Art History Museum.
